Hi everyone,
this is my first post even though I have been around for a long time. I decided to jump on the valve building train and build a stereo version of Fred Nachbaur's MiniBlok II.
I have been reading about designing and constructing valve circuits but it is not clear to me what type of resistors and capacitors to use.
My understanding so far is:
metal film resistors are the ones with the least hum/noise.
use electrolytic capacitors for the power supply and cathode bypass capacitors. Are there some particular kind/brand/characteristics of electrolytic caps I should look for?
use some other kind (polypropylene?) for coupling capasitors, etc.
I would really appreciate it if someone could explain to me in plain english what I should use and when/where.
